Apokries spirit shines at AHEPA Victoria Unit Nafsica’s Masquerade Ball

·

AHEPA Victoria Unit Nafsica brought the spirit of Apokries to life on Saturday, 7 February 2026, hosting a vibrant Masquerade Dinner Dance at Normanby Manor that blended tradition, laughter and generosity.

Representing the three-week pre-Lenten Greek Carnival season, the evening was filled with colour, music and exuberant dancing, as guests arrived in spectacular costumes and embraced the joyful traditions of Apokries.

The lively atmosphere carried through the night, with the dance floor buzzing and the sense of community unmistakable.

Beyond the celebrations, the event delivered a meaningful outcome, raising an impressive $6,000 in support of Our Village (formerly St Kilda Mums).

The organising committee extended special thanks to Dessie Kontis for her generous $1,000 donation, as well as to AHEPA Victoria Units Athenian, Atlas and Poseidon for their combined contribution of $1,500, alongside the many supporters whose generosity helped make the fundraising effort such a success.

Unit Nafsica also expressed its gratitude to the staff and management of Normanby Manor for their hospitality, to the UNIK music band for setting the tone of the night, and to unofficial photographer Peter Sahhar for capturing the evening’s standout moments.

Warm appreciation was also extended to the organising committee, whose dedication and hard work ensured a seamless and memorable event.

With spirits high and a strong sense of fulfilment, Unit Nafsica thanked all who attended and supported the evening, already looking ahead to welcoming the community again at its next celebration.
