A 5th International Conference on the Hellenic Diaspora will be held in Darwin with events spread across three days in May and June this year.

The outcome of the conference will be featured in the publication of Perspectives on the Hellenic Diaspora Volume 5 in 2028.

The conference is an educational program aiming to teach attendees about the Greek language and culture while promoting cross-academic collaboration both in and outside of Greece. Participants are welcome to attend in person or online.

It first came to fruition in 2007 when the first draft of a plan for such a collaborative initiative was signed by the University of the Aegean in Greece and Australia’s Charles Darwin University.

Welcomes will be delivered by His Excellency, The Ambassador of Greece in Australia, Stavros Venizelos; Professor Dimitrios Papageorgiou, Rector of the University of the Aegean; Professor Alexander Chatzigeorgiou, Vice Rector of Extroversion and International Relations from University of Macedonia; and Professor Fiona Coulson, Interim Vice Chancellor and President from Charles Darwin University.

Keynote speakers include historian and writer Dr Peter Forrest, Professor Zoe Gavriilidou from the Democritus University of Thrace and Professor Nikolaos Liazos.
