Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has sent a letter to his Greek counterpart, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, to express solidarity in the wake of the devastating wildfires and floods that have struck Greece over the past month.
Erdogan stressed that Turkey, in the context of solidarity, is ready to support its neighbour at this difficult time, reported amna.gr.
The letter comes as the Turkish president is due to meet with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in New York next week to discuss the possibility of resuming talks between the two countries.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will begin preparations for the meeting in New York which has been re-scheduled due to the extreme flooding emergency in Greece.
The meeting was meant to be held on September 18 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and will be scheduled for October.
