Oakleigh Grammar becomes Round Square Global member school

·

Oakleigh Grammar has announced its official recognition as a Global Member of the Round Square organisation – a worldwide network of innovative schools that share a passion for experiential learning and character education.

This marks another significant milestone in Oakleigh Grammar’s journey as a community focused and globally minded institution.

This prestigious status was awarded following an accelerated Candidacy period – a rare achievement that reflects Oakleigh Grammar’s deep alignment with the Round Square IDEALS of Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, and Service.

Principal Mark Robertson shared his excitement on the outcome.

“Becoming a Global Member of Round Square is a testament to our School’s unwavering commitment to nurturing globally aware, compassionate, and courageous young people. This recognition affirms our vision to prepare students not just for success, but for significance in a rapidly changing world,” Robertson said.

Round Square Coordinator Rebecca Bettiol, who has been instrumental in bringing Round Square to life at the School, added: “Our students have embraced the Round Square IDEALS with enthusiasm and integrity. From international collaborations to service initiatives, they’ve shown that global citizenship is not just a concept – it’s a lived experience at Oakleigh Grammar.”

As a Global Member of Round Square, Oakleigh Grammar students will continue to have access to a rich array of international opportunities – including student exchanges, global service projects, leadership summits, and collaborative learning experiences with other Round Square schools across the world.

These experiences will complement the School’s existing programs, such as the IB Middle Years Programme and the Leader In Me, by embedding real-world learning and intercultural understanding into their student journey.

The announcement was celebrated with style during a Middle School and Senior School assembly, marked by a delicious Round Square cake which was cut by Board Chairman Chris Damatopoulos and Treasurer Sam Vassos.

This milestone cements Oakleigh Grammar’s reputation as a values-based community school embracing a contemporary, future-focused educational program – one that empowers students to thrive as compassionate, confident, and globally minded citizens.
