Young soccer star Nicholas Vatenos making his mark in South Australia

·

The National Premier League South Australia season has seen an influx of young talent. Among the soccer stars to watch is 20-year-old highly-rated defender for the Adelaide Comets, Nicholas Vatenos.

Vatenos was just six-years-old when he first kicked a ball for the Comets and has stayed with the team since.

His rise through the junior ranks gathered pace before exploding into a standout 2024 season. At 17, Vatenos was quickly promoted to senior football, making his Federation Cup debut and following it up with a league debut only a week later.

Now 20, the composed defender has established himself as a key figure in the Comets’ defence, widely viewed as a long-term cornerstone of their back line.
