His Grace Bishop Silouan of Adelaide and Father Jeremy Krieg have embarked on a road trip from Adelaide to Darwin to reach those in regional and outback communities with reduced access to faith leaders.
Bishop Silouan started his trip to spread faith through the outback in Tennant Creek before crossing the border to Mount Isa. He then returned to the Northern Territory for a service at Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Darwin City.
The Bishop then travelled to Kununarra, and was scheduled to pass through Katherine, Alice Springs, Coober Pedy, Whyalla and Broken Hill on his way back to Adelaide.

“I am honoured to be able to visit the faithful in the Northern Territory,” Bishop Silouan said.
“It’s an opportunity to visit people who aren’t in a position to come to the church, nor are they in the position to invite the church to visit them. So that’s why we’re responding.
“Regional and outback communities deserve to have the same accessibility as every other part of our nation. The faith is probably stronger in some places (than in capital cities).

“To our great surprise, although we were aware that people have need and desire, we’re really overwhelmed by people’s gratitude.
“What we’re offering to the beautiful people that we are visiting is very small, but very significant.”
Bishop Silouan acknowledged the long distance to cover and that “we’re not rally drivers.” But not even a cracked windscreen has slowed him down, saying he has enjoyed the “physical driving from one place to another”.
