TV personality Niko Fotopoulos transforms Sydney house into $2.8 million luxury home

·

Australian builder, property developer and former Love Island Australia contestant Niko Fotopoulos has transformed a 138-year-old house in Sydney’s inner west into a $2.8 million home with style, warmth and elegance.

Fotopoulos’ construction company Construkt 4U specialises in restoring derelict terraces in lavish suburbs for their clients.

His current project was vacant for more than 20 years and was ready to collapse.

“I was looking for a challenge, although, in hindsight, I probably over-stepped a little bit,” Fotopoulos admitted. “Everyone in my life was like: ‘Wow. Really?’ And I was like: ‘Yes, really.’ I knew I was capable of doing the work.”

After demolishing much of the house due to deteriorating brickwork and rotten flooring, Fotopoulos worked with architects Blueprint Design to create a house that maximised light, space and functionality, despite its narrow block.

“The architect pushed the council to really allow us to make the most of the site,” he said. “There is no idle space on the block.”

The house is complete with four bedrooms (two with en suites), a main bathroom, skylights upstairs, a kitchen-living-dining zone downstairs which extends to a paved patio and barbecue area.

A landscaped garden, plunge pool and self-contained studio fill the backyard. The inside features many curved walls whch cast soft shadows.

“There are no harsh edges,” Fotopoulos said.

“We tried really hard to create a feeling of softness, warmth and elegance. Creating something that would stand the test of time was my top priority.”

After all the energy, hard work and planning that went into renovating the house, Fotopoulos was tempted to live in it, but decided to put it on the market and tackle another renovation.
