At 6am on Tuesday morning, roughly 75,000 NSW students received their HSC results via text message, signifying the end of their high school journey and their introduction into the next stage of their lives.
In languages, there were 18 students from the Saturday School of Community Languages who placed first in their course. Among these students was Savina-Ipapanti Ellina, from the Saturday School of Community Languages St George High School, who placed first in Modern Greek Continuers and Extension.
There were also 11 students from the NSW School of Languages who secured a first place ranking, including Stella Kretzas who placed first in NSW in Modern Greek Beginners.
In Classical Greek, Sebastian Joseph Braham from St Ignatius’ College placed first in NSW in Classical Greek Continuers and Extension.
Other Greek students across NSW stood out in their HSC results, including school captain Isaiah Kezelos from Macarthur Anglican School, achieving a 99.35 ATAR and placing first in the state for Indonesian Extension, fifth for Indonesian Continuers and seventh for Music 1.
Notably, Andre Thomas from St Euphemia achieved an outstanding ATAR of 99.95, placing 1st in the state in Economics, 2nd in the state in English Advanced and 3rd in the State in Legal Studies.
While St Spyridon students Peter Nikas and Stella Ktenas stood out with ATARS of 99.65 (Peter) and 99.50 (Stella).
Adrian Nathan Panas was another successful student who made the “All-Round Achievers List” and “Distinguished Achivers List” with an ATAR of 99.50. Adrian attended Sydney Boys High School and achieved Band 6’s in English Advanced, Mathematics Extension 1, Mathematics Extension 2, Chemistry and Economics.
In regards to Greek Orthodox Colleges, in NSW, St Spyridon College, All Saints Grammar and St Euphemia College had a number of high achieving students.
St Spyridon College
St Spyridon College in Kingsford produced excellent results this year, ranking in the top 16% of schools in New South Wales in 2019.
At St Spyridon, there were two “HSC All Round Achievers”:
- Peter Nikas with an ATAR of 99.65 – 6th in the state in Mathematics Extension 1, and Band 6 in Chemistry, English Advanced, Mathematics Extension 2 and Physics
- Stella Ktenas with an ATAR of 99.50 – 7th in the state in Modern History, and Band 6 in English Advanced, English Extension 1, Legal Studies and History Extension
Top Achievers were:
- Anthea Condous with an ATAR of 98.95 – 13th in the state in Mathematics and Band 6 in Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics Extension 1 and Physics
- Vivienne Hatzigiakoumis – 5th in the state Hospitality
- Konstantina Koliopanos – 4th in the state in Modern Greek Continuers

St Euphemia College
St Euphemia College in Bankstown were also among the higher achieving schools, ranking in the top 16% of schools in New South Wales. The Greek Orthodox school rose from 202nd four years ago to 94th this year, narrowly missing out on the top 50 most improved school rankings.
Andre Thomas was awarded the HSC All Round Achiever, First Place in course and Top Achiever titles, with an outstanding ATAR of 99.95. He placed first in the state in Economics, 2nd in the state in English Advanced, 3rd in the State in Legal Studies, and achieved a band 6 in English Extension 1.
Stephen George Allagiannis was another Top Achiever at St Euphemia, with an ATAR of 98.8. He also ranked 10th in the state in Engineering Studies and achieved Band 6’s in English Advanced, Mathematics and Mathematics Extension 1.

Across all schools, girls dominated Visual Arts, English Extension, Legal Studies and Biology, while boys achieved the greatest proportion of high scores in the hardest three maths subjects, chemistry and physics.
