A large disturbance involving around 100 youths disrupted Brisbane’s Paniyiri Festival on Saturday night, May 23, prompting a police response and causing some attendees to flee the area.
Police were called to Musgrave Park in South Brisbane shortly before 9pm following reports of a brawl involving a large group of youths, some of whom allegedly assaulted festival-goers. It is understood one person in the group was carrying a knife.
Officers and security personnel dispersed the crowd, while first aid crews treated a number of people for minor injuries at the scene.
Queensland Police said no formal complaints had been lodged and no arrests had been made as of Sunday morning.
