The Ambassador of Greece to Australia, Stavros Venizelos, has been received at the offices of the Greek Orthodox Diocese of Brisbane during an official visit to Queensland.

He and his wife, Larissa Tikaidi, were welcomed by His Grace Bishop Bartholomew of Brisbane on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, and were accompanied by the Honorary Consul of Greece in Brisbane George Mastrokostas.

The visit began with a tour of the church of Agia Paraskevi, where the delegation venerated icons and relics. Bishop Bartholomew noted that the parish is marking its 40th anniversary this year.

A morning tea followed at the diocesan offices, where discussions focused on pastoral and community initiatives in Queensland’s Greek Orthodox community, as well as the upcoming visit of Archbishop Makarios to the state.

Bishop Bartholomew also conveyed the Archbishop’s blessings and goodwill to the visiting delegation.

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the hospitality shown and praised the Bishop’s ministry and contribution to the Greek Orthodox community in Queensland.
