Kefalonia beach voted as the second best beach in the world

·

Fteri Beach has been ranked the second most spectacular beach in the world for 2026 in the annual World’s 50 Beaches list, a global ranking compiled by more than 1,000 travel professionals and beach experts, according to ekathimerini.com

Located on the northwestern coast of Kefalonia, Fteri Beach was placed just behind Entalula Beach in the Philippines. The beach was praised for its secluded setting, dramatic white cliffs and crystal-clear Ionian waters.

According to the ranking’s organisers, Fteri Beach “is tucked away in a secluded cove, surrounded by dramatic white cliffs, and is accessible primarily by boat or via a hike down a steep trail.” They added that its isolation contributes to its “pristine and serene atmosphere,” making it a destination for visitors seeking tranquillity and a close connection with nature.

Greece secured three beaches in the global top 50, matching Thailand and Australia as the only countries with three entries on the list. Porto Katsiki ranked 34th globally, while Porto Timoni placed 46th.

Fteri Beach also topped the European rankings, ahead of Spain’s Cala Macarella. Other Greek beaches included in Europe’s top 50 were Voutoumi Beach, Hovolo Beach, Sarakiniko and Elafonissi Beach.
