On Monday, September 22, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia welcomed renowned Greek singer Giannis Ploutarchos to the headquarters of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia (GOAA) in Sydney.

Ploutarchos, who is currently touring Australia with a series of concerts across major cities, was accompanied by Greek Australian businessman Konstantinos Tagalakis and artistic events organiser Nicholas Theodorakopoulos.

During the visit, the popular performer expressed his wish to pay his respects to Archbishop Makarios and to receive his blessing during his stay in Sydney. The Archbishop received him warmly, and the meeting took place in a spirit of mutual appreciation.

Their discussion touched on the life of the Greek diaspora in Australia and the vital role of the Orthodox Church in preserving faith and culture on the fifth continent.

Before parting, Archbishop Makarios presented his visitors with commemorative coins issued for the centenary of the GOAA.
