Giorgos Charalampopoulos wins gold in European Armwrestling Championship

·

The Greek World Champion, Giorgos Charalampopoulos, has once again ascended to the top of Europe, securing the Gold Medal in the Grand Masters + 100kg (Right Hand) category.

It was a day defined by absolute dominance, resilience against repeated challenges, and profound national pride.

Winning ‘three times’ in a single final

The final match was a rare display of composure and mental strength. Despite Charalampopoulos’ clear physical superiority, the progression of the final was marked by continuous protests and appeals from his opponent’s side.

In an unprecedented turn of events, the Greek champion was required to prove his dominance three consecutive times at the table to have the result finalised.

Charalampopoulos responded with the silence of a true champion, winning every single restart and leaving no room for doubt.

The moment the champion ‘broke’

Beyond the physical battle, the most powerful moment of the tournament occurred during the medal ceremony.

As the Greek National Anthem echoed through the arena, Charalampopoulos, visibly moved by the magnitude of the effort and his love for the motherland, burst into tears on the podium.

This display of raw emotion highlighted the man behind the titan, proving that his greatest strength lies in his heart and his devotion to Greece.

“Today, it wasn’t just about strength; it was about character and the Greek soul. Giorgos answered every protest with his hand on the table, winning again and again until there was nothing left to contest. However, his tears during the National Anthem are what truly define him: a champion who competes with his entire soul for his country,” his management said.
