Greece to face Australia in Water Polo World Cup quarterfinal in Sydney

Greece’s men’s national water polo team has qualified for the final phase of the World Cup in Sydney (July 20–26) and will face host nation Australia in the quarterfinals.

The matchup was confirmed following the completion of Division 1 and Division 2, with Greece finishing third to set up a crossover clash with the host country, in line with the competition format announced by World Aquatics.

The quarterfinal pairings are: Spain vs Georgia, Hungary vs Croatia, Italy vs Montenegro, and Greece vs Australia.

The winners of Spain–Georgia and Hungary–Croatia will meet in one semi-final, while the winners of Italy–Montenegro and Greece–Australia will contest the other.

If Greece defeats Australia, it will progress to face the winner of the Italy–Montenegro match in the semi-finals.
