AEK Athens FC has secured the Greek Super League title after coming from behind to defeat Panathinaikos FC 2-1 in the Athens derby.
The victory confirmed AEK’s first league championship in three years, with the club reaching 70 points and clinching the title with two matches remaining.
Panathinaikos took the lead shortly after halftime through Andreas Tetteh, but AEK responded after the introduction of Angolan striker Zini, who equalised six minutes later.
The decisive moment came in injury time when Joao Mario scored in the 93rd minute from a Luka Jovic pass, sealing a dramatic comeback and sparking celebrations in Nea Filadelfia.
At the same time, title rivals Olympiacos FC and PAOK FC drew 1-1 in Piraeus, ending any remaining hopes of catching AEK.
Olympiakos had initially taken the lead through Rodinei before Giannis Konstantelias equalised for PAOK eight minutes later.
The result leaves PAOK with the advantage in the race for Greece’s second Champions League qualification spot.
