Pan-Arcadian Association of NSW celebrate anniversary of Tripolitsa’s liberation

The Pan-Arcadian Association of NSW celebrated the 202nd anniversary of the liberation of Tripolitsa during the 1821 Greek Revolution with a luncheon on Sunday, September 24.

The day began with a memorial service at St Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Kingsford for all those people who lost their lives during the siege of Tripolitsa.

This was followed by a luncheon at the Pan-Arcadian Club in the Sydney suburb of Ashbury. George Karountzos from the Greek Returned Services League was a guest speaker on the day.

During the luncheon, the Board of the Pan-Arcadian Association of NSW gave a generous donation of $10,000 to Dementia Australia. A painting of Theodoros Kolokotronis by Vicky Kastanias was also donated to the Association.

The Association donated $10,000 to Dementia Australia.

The event wasn’t short of entertainment with students from the Sophia Ventouris School of Greek Dance performing a number of traditional Greek dances.
