Ambassador Alison Duncan meets HACCI Board members to strengthen bilateral ties

·

HACCI Board members held a meeting with Australia’s Ambassador to Greece, Her Excellency Alison Duncan, on Monday, August 4, during her recent visit to Melbourne, Victoria.

HACCI Chair Fotini Kypraios and board members Vicky Alexiou and Helen Kapalos welcomed the opportunity to reconnect with Ambassador Duncan.

The Ambassador’s tenure at the Australian Embassy in Athens has been marked by efforts to deepen the relationship between Greece and Australia, and HACCI has collaborated closely with her across a range of initiatives aimed at boosting bilateral trade and advancing opportunities for the Hellenic Australian business and professional community.

A steadfast supporter of HACCI’s flagship Mentoring Program (which has fostered over 270 mentor–mentee pairs to date), Ambassador Duncan is also a strong advocate for the organisation’s campaign to establish direct flights between Australia and Greece.

The Ambassador has also been instrumental in advancing high-level discussions on the Australia–Greece double taxation treaty, an issue that HACCI has championed for many years.

During her visit, Ambassador Duncan and the HACCI Board members had valuable discussions about the growing investment opportunities in Greece for Australian industries, particularly in education and training, hospitality, technology, renewable energy, property investment, and mining.

Her insights reflected a shared optimism for the future of bilateral trade and collaboration between Greece and Australia.
