Young members of Melbourne’s Greek diaspora will have the opportunity to travel to Greece this September, as the Greek Community of Melbourne announces the return of its Greek Youth Camp in Attiki.
Now in its third year, the 10-day program runs during the September school holidays and is designed to connect 14–16-year-olds of Greek heritage with the country’s history, culture and everyday life through a structured, immersive experience.
Delivered in collaboration with the Prefecture of Attica, under the leadership of Nikos Hardalias, the camp offers participants the chance to explore major historical sites, take part in group activities and experience Greece beyond the typical tourist lens.
Previous programs have included visits to landmark destinations such as the Acropolis, Delphi and the Saronic islands, alongside cultural experiences and behind-the-scenes access to key institutions including the Hellenic Parliament.
The initiative aims to strengthen cultural identity and connection among young Greek Australians, while giving participants the opportunity to build friendships and shared experiences in Greece itself.
Applications are now open for Melbourne-based students aged 14–16 of Greek heritage, with places expected to be in high demand. More information can be found at www.greekcommunity.com.au
