Football Australia has announced the appointments of Rachel Wiseman and Angela Mentis as Directors on the governing body’s Board of Directors, following ratification by Members at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on 23 April 2026.

Wiseman is a highly experienced executive and board director with more than 20 years’ experience leading transformation and innovation in major organisations across the tourism, technology, media and entertainment sectors in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

Having been at NRMA since 2016, Wiseman was most recently Chief Executive Officer Member Capital, overseeing multiple operating businesses, investments, and mergers & acquisitions while leading the strategy to diversify the business from motoring services into tourism and transport services. Wiseman previously worked as General Manager, Commercial Development – International at Tabcorp Holdings Limited and prior to that was Director of Business Affairs for Fox Sports Australia from 2007-2014, where she formulated the content strategy and negotiated agreements to broadcast key sports rights.

Before holding executive roles, Wiseman had an extensive career as a lawyer. She holds an MBA, is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, and is currently a Non Executive Director of Web Travel Group Limited (ASX:WEB).

Wiseman officially commences her role as an Appointed Director on the Football Australia Board from 25 April 2026 through to 30 November 2027

Mentis has more than 30 years’ experience as an executive in the financial services industry across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, United Kingdom and the United States of America. She brings strategic experience in customer and culture transformations, with a focus on digital, data, technology, innovation, people and culture.

Over the course of 17 years (2006-2023), her senior leadership roles while at the National Australia Bank (NAB) included Group Executive, Chief Digital, Data, Analytics, Innovation & Partnerships leading a division of 900 people across Australia, Vietnam and India. Mentis also became the first female Chief Executive Officer at the Bank of New Zealand in 160 years when she held the position from 2018-2021.

Mentis is currently a Non-Executive Director for the Reece Group, FirstCape (New Zealand) and TAL Group while sitting on Advisory Boards and Panels for Famille Capital and Maxme.

Mentis will fill the Elected Director casual vacancy that arose at the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the period from 25 April 2026 to the conclusion of the 2027 AGM.

Football Australia Chair, Anter Isaac, welcomed the appointments of both Wiseman and Mentis, stating: “We are pleased to welcome Rachel (Wiseman) and Angela (Mentis) to the Football Australia Board.”

“These appointments reflect a deliberate effort to strengthen the Board’s capability across commercial strategy, digital transformation, financial services and major rights environments. Rachel brings deep experience in media, sport and complex commercial negotiations, while Angela adds significant leadership in large-scale organisational, customer and technology transformation,” Isaac added.

“Together, they complement the existing Board skillset and position Football Australia strongly to execute its strategic priorities and continue the organisation’s progression.”

Football Australia’s 24th Annual General Meeting is set to be held next month, May, with details to be announced in due course.
