The 2022 School Competition by the Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation has opened for applications

·

The 2022 School Competition by the Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation has now opened for all School Students to take part here in Victoria, where the Greek language is taught.

The competition started in 2011 for all students from Year 1 to Year 12.

The purpose of the competition is for the students to learn the events and history in Greece during World War Two, and why the Australian Hellenic Memorial was built.

It is also important that all service men and women that served and died in Greece be remembered and not forgotten of their sacrifice in the Greek Campaign during WWII.

Students can write a story of the war, write a poem, draw a picture of soldiers or an essay, anything that relates to the Greek Campaign and the ANZACs in Greece.

Cash prizes range from $50 up to $250 and all students that take part in the competition will receive a badge of the Memorial and a certificate of participation.

The competition is supported by the Melbourne Greek Consulate for Educational Affairs.

The competition is now open and will close on September 14, 2022.

All winners and awards will be presented to students on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 12.30pm at the Australian Hellenic Memorial.

We all should be proud of the Memorial which is situated in the heart of Melbourne, for future generations.

For any other information in regard to the competition the contact numbers are 0400 629 597 or 0449 232 783.
