A Melbourne father is calling for a student at Brighton Secondary College to be suspended after alleging his son has been repeatedly involved in incidents with the same student since February.
Spyros Boukouvalas claims the most recent incident, on June 12, left his son with an eye injury that required treatment at an urgent care clinic. He alleges his son was involved in multiple confrontations that day, including an incident in which he was pinned to the ground by another student.
Boukouvalas said the incidents have had a significant impact on his son’s wellbeing and that he is no longer attending classes. He has reported the matter to the school, the Department of Education and Victoria Police, and is seeking legal advice.
He also alleges there have been earlier incidents involving the same student and argues there is a broader pattern of concerning behaviour that warrants stronger action from the school.
A Department of Education spokesperson said privacy laws prevent comment on individual disciplinary matters but said schools follow formal processes for responding to complaints and student behaviour concerns.
Brighton Secondary College principal Peter Langham said the school works to ensure all students feel safe and supported, and that allegations of unsafe behaviour are taken seriously, investigated and addressed in line with school policies and procedures.
