Sydney unit block blamed for structural damage to Gary Papapetros’ car repair shop

·

Gary Papapetros, a Mascot mechanic, has told A Current Affair his workshop is falling apart due to structural damage caused by a neighbouring apartment block, under construction since 2019.

Cracks, water leaks, and broken asbestos roofing began appearing shortly after excavation work started, with building auditor Marcus Pavlakis claiming the property has rotated due to foundation shifts.

“There were structural changes in the building happening rapidly… you start getting very concerned,” said Pavlakis, who claims there have been over 15 safety breaches but “nothing’s been done.”

The developer, Stonehenge Constructions, has not received an occupancy certificate, leaving the apartments empty and unsellable.

The matter is expected to go before the Land and Environment Court.
