Fremantle’s iconic Nick’s Place closes after 40 years

·

After four decades of serving late-night crowds in Fremantle, Western Australia, Nick’s Place, the beloved Greek-style kebab shop on South Terrace, has officially closed its doors.

Operating since 1985, and conveniently located next to the local nightclub strip, the venue became a post-party institution.

The owners announced the closure via Facebook: “After 40 years, Nick’s Place has ceased trading from the Fremantle location that we have occupied for over 40 years!”

They thanked “many generations” of loyal customers for their support and hinted at a return: “We look forward to bringing quality, value & friendly service back to Nick’s Place in the Freo area.”

Although the Fremantle store has shut, their Cockburn outlet remains open, with staff urging fans to visit: “Need a feed? Head to our Cockburn Store – it’s worth the drive.”

The announcement sparked an outpouring of emotion online, as longtime patrons shared memories.
