Greek PM offers condolences for fatal ski resort fire in Turkey

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has expressed his deep sorrow following a deadly fire that broke out at a ski resort in Bolu, Turkey, claiming the lives of at least 76 individuals.

Fifty-one others were injured after a fire engulfed the popular ski destination in the mountains, forcing guests to jump out of windows or attempt to use bed sheets to flee the building.

In a heartfelt message shared on the social media platform X, Mitsotakis offered Greece’s condolences to the families affected by the fire. He conveyed his grief on behalf of the Greek people, emphasising the profound sadness surrounding such a tragic loss of life.

“Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives in the ski resort fire in Bolu, Turkey. On behalf of Greece, I extend heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wish a swift recovery to the injured,” the PM wrote.

The fire has caused significant devastation, with local authorities and emergency responders scrambling to contain the damage and assist those affected.
