TV doctor Michael Mosley’s body to be repatriated from Greece

·

The body of TV doctor Michael Mosley is likely to be released to his family and repatriated by the weekend, The Guardian has reported.

Mosley was found dead on the Greek island of Symi last Sunday, June 8 after a five-day search and rescue operation on land, sea and air.

The 67-year-old is thought to have died two-and-a-half hours after setting out on a walk that would turn fatal when, taking a wrong turn, he embarked on a treacherous hike through rocky terrain in blistering temperatures.

An initial post-mortem report on Mosley’s body revealed he likely died of natural causes.

Dr Grigoris Leon, who heads the Hellenic Society of Forensic Medicine, told The Guardian “it’s only a matter of time once a postmortem is conducted for a body to be released” and later repatriated.

But the forensic pathologist said tests revealing the precise cause of Mosley’s death could take months because Greece only had three certified laboratories to conduct advanced analysis.

This news comes as the BBC will air Dr Mosley’s last conducted interview today as a part of the There’s Only One Michael Mosley show in tribute to the 67-year-old.
