Nick Politis inducted as life member of the Sydney Cricket Ground

·

Sydney Roosters Chairman Nick Politis was inducted as a life member of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) during a gala dinner on Wednesday night.

Politis was among 12 sporting luminaries granted with life memberships on Wednesday, including Graham Arnold (football), Glenn McGrath (cricket), and Steve Waugh (cricket), among others.

The new inductees have been added to the exclusive list of 45 life members at the SCG since the early 1990’s.

According to The Advertiser, Politis said his life membership was the greatest honour in his extraordinary career.

“The Roosters had their first game at the SCG in 1913,” Politis said. “We have been playing there for a long time and our association with the ground is special for many reasons.

“Personally, I’ve been around the game a long time now, both as chairman of the Roosters and previously on the NSWRL board.

“This has to be the highest honour I’ve ever received. To be alongside the special company of life members, that’s something else.”
