Greece and Turkey hold ministerial meeting in Athens

Greece and Turkey held meetings on Monday and Tuesday for the fifth round of negotiations on a joint action plan between the two nations, according to a joint statement released by Greece’s Foreign Ministry.

On Monday, Deputy Foreign Ministers Konstantinos Fragogiannis and Ambassador Burak Akcapar reaffirmed “their common goal to provide concrete outcomes for the 5th High-Level Cooperation Council (HLCC) meeting on items of the positive agenda, such as business-economics, tourism, transportation, energy, science and technology, agriculture, environment, social security & health, youth, education, and youth.”

On Tuesday, Deputy Foreign Ministers and Ambassadors Burak Akcapar and Alexandra Papadopoulou reviewed bilateral ties, as well as regional and global problems.

Ekathimerini has reported that the two parties “agreed to build on the existing positive atmosphere in order to identify areas of agreement and cooperation, both at the bilateral and international level.”

The 5th High-Level Cooperation Council (HLCC) meeting will be held on December 7 in Thessaloniki.
