Greek CEO of aged care home organises special birthday gift for Australia’s oldest man

·

The Chief Executive of Whiddon aged care, Chris Mamarelis, helped organise a special birthday gift for Australia’s oldest man, Ken Weeks. Ken turned 110 years old this week.

Born in 1913 in Grafton on the NSW North Coast, Ken is thought to be the oldest living man in Australia and has lived through two world wars, the Great Depression, and two pandemics.

He currently resides at Whiddon’s aged care facility in Grafton.

Mamarelis told ABC News that when staff found out Ken’s favourite food was baked beans, they organised a special birthday present for him.

The team at Whiddon reached out to Heinz to request a “pallet of baked beans” as that’s what Ken said had “fuelled him for 100 years.”

The company created a label with Ken’s face on it to add a special touch to his birthday.
