Renovations continue on Melbourne’s oldest Greek Orthodox church

·

The Holy Church of ‘The Annunciation of Our Lady’ will be temporarily closed this spring due to the installation of a new marble floor and furniture.

The continued restoration of the church has been made possible primarily due to the generous support of the Andrianopoulos Family.

The church will re-open for mass for the Christmas celebrations.

About Evangelismos Church:

The Holy Church of ‘The Annunciation of Our Lady’ is Melbourne’s oldest Greek Orthodox Church.

Opening on Sunday, 23 June 1901, the historical church has been serving the spiritual needs of the broader Greek community residing in Melbourne for over 120 years.

Today, the church still acts as a hub for cultural and spiritual interaction for Greek Australians with many still attending weekly mass, as well as participating in the church’s Feast Day Celebration on March 25.
