The battle of the iced coffee: Frappe or Freddo

·

All year round, you will find a Greek savouring the flavours and freshness of an iced coffee. Whether it is a Frappe or Freddo, the Greeks make it a habit to drink iced coffee throughout the year no matter the season.

However, when it comes to choice, things are much more difficult. To help with this difficult decision we are taking a closer look at these two famous iced coffees and seeing which one takes your interest.

Frappe

A foam- covered iced coffee made with instant coffee, water, ice cubes and sugar, it is made available virtually in every single Greek café. Accidentally created by Dimitris Vakondios in 1957 at the International Trade Fair of Thessaloniki, the drink is made with either a shaker or mixer and is very easy to make at home.

Freddo

Ranging from Freddo Espresso or Freddo Cappuccino, both are mixed with small amounts of cold-frothed milk and iced cubes. The Freddo Cappuccino has become the most widely consumed coffee in Greece over the past ten years and is popular amongst people who prefer a cold, strong coffee.

No matter your choice, according to many researchers, an iced coffee provides instant energy and can help fight depression and improve overall health.
