Greece looking at winning the tourism bet for 2023

·

Greece is currently in the lead to win the tourism bet for the 2023 travel season.

During the months of July and August, Greece proved to be one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world with many seeing 2023 as a time to return to normal following the COVID pandemic.

Despite this year’s common issues with the international tourism sector such as a lack of staff and Greece’s fires, tourism in the country has been developing well.

According to the general secretary of the Greek National Tourism Organisation Dimitris Fragakis, there has been an increase in air arrivals throughout the country and an increase in travel receipts for at least the first half of the year.

Prior to the COVID pandemic, Greece’s tourism receipts in 2019 were at 18.2 billion euros but recent figures will see this number surpassed.
