Panathinaikos BC fined for missing Stoiximan Super Cup

·

Panathinaikos will not compete in this year’s Stoiximan Super Cup in Rhodes, the Board of Directors of Stoiximan GBL has confirmed.

The decision, previously signalled by the club, is now official, with the team being fined €20,000 for their non-participation, while they also risk losing the right to play in next season’s competition.

Panathinaikos is scheduled to return from Australia on September 25, following the Pavlos Giannakopoulos tournament in Melbourne and Sydney, making it impossible to participate in the Super Cup on September 26–27.

The tournament will instead feature Olympiacos, AEK, Promitheas, and likely Karditsa, who are expected to take Panathinaikos’ place. The matchups for the competition will be announced by GBL on Friday, September 12.
