Passenger arrested for smoking in toilet of Ryanair flight to Greece

·

A passenger on a flight from Germany to Greece has been arrested for having a smoke in the plane’s toilet.

The passenger is a 32-year-old Greek-born man with German citizenship. He lit a cigarette in the toilet of a Ryanair flight from Baden-Baden airport in South Germany to Thessaloniki in North Greece.

The smoker was discovered by a flight attendant who reportedly informed the captain, who on his part reported the incident to the control tower of the airport in Thessaloniki.

He was immediately arrested when the airplane landed around 1 o’clock on Friday morning.

He confessed his “sin” saying that he was to calm his nerves as he suffered stress during the flight.

Police took him to the criminal prosecutor in Thessaloniki where he will appear before the court. The penalty for this kind of offence is imprisonment of up to six months or a fine.
