Jim Grivokostopoulos announced as Liberal candidate for Oakleigh ahead of Victoria’s state elections

·

Jim Grivokostopoulos has been endorsed as the Liberal candidate for the Melbourne suburb of Oakleigh ahead of Victoria’s state elections in November.

In a post on Facebook, Mr Grivokostopoulos said he is “humbled and honoured” by the endorsement.

“In a time where our current State Government has not allowed the residents of Oakleigh to have their voice and not be represented as they should, I will provide that voice for all residents in Oakleigh,” Mr Grivokostopoulos added.

Oakleigh is a well-known hub of the Greek community in Melbourne, affectionately referred to as Little Athens. Many people can be seen strolling through Eaton Mall and enjoying a plethora of Greek cafes, gyros food outlets, Greek delis and other culture shops.

Mr Grivokostopoulos has played a role in Victorian politics for many years, having been elected a Councillor at Manningham City Council in October 2012 before becoming the first Mayor of Greek heritage in the City for 2013-2014.
