Perfect 100 in Modern Greek: Paris Xanthoudakis celebrates standout HSC result

·

Thousands of NSW students received their Higher School Certificate (HSC) results this week, marking the culmination of their secondary education and a major academic milestone.

This year, almost 83,000 students completed the HSC, with more than 60,000 eligible for an ATAR and over 20,000 also undertaking vocational education and training (VET) qualifications alongside their studies.

Among those celebrating exceptional results was Marist Catholic College student Paris Xanthoudakis, who achieved a perfect score of 100 in Modern Greek Beginners and an impressive ATAR of 95.70.

Paris told The Greek Herald she felt “incredibly proud” of her achievement, attributing her success in Greek to consistent effort and an authentic connection with the language beyond the classroom.

“Achieving a perfect score in Greek came down to consistent effort and genuine connection with the language — listening to Greek music, speaking Greek over the phone with my family, and applying the language in everyday life,” she said.

Encouraging other students to embrace Greek studies, Paria said the subject offered both academic opportunity and cultural purpose.

“I want to encourage all Greek students to choose Greek as a subject, because a perfect score is absolutely achievable,” she said. “Strengthening the Greek diaspora and keeping the language alive is so important, and it’s something I’m incredibly proud to be part of.”

Looking ahead, Paris plans to study Law and Business next year, with the University of Sydney and the University of Technology Sydney among her preferred options.
