Immigration Minister Andrew Giles sends message ahead of Orthodox Easter

·

The Federal Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, Andrew Giles MP, has expressed his best wishes in a message to Greek Orthodox Christians celebrating Easter this Sunday.

Full Message in English:

I send my best wishes to the Greek Australian community celebrating Pascha. Greek Easter traditions highlight the themes of light overcoming darkness, sacrifice, new life and the importance of family and community. It is a time where people connect with their faith, culture and with each other.

Greek culture runs deeply across generations of Greek Australians, and has become an intrinsic and significant part of the tapestry of modern, multicultural Australia. Your community’s ongoing contributions to Australia are a testament to the fact that diversity is Australia’s greatest strength.

As you gather at church services, and with family over lunch, I celebrate the contributions of Greek Australians, and wish you a joyous Pascha.
