Greek Australian director George Miller pays tribute to Tina Turner

·

Tina Turner, the Queen of rock n’ roll, has died at the age of 83, and many celebrities are paying tribute to the legendary music star.

Greek Australian director and filmmaker, George Miller, worked with Tina in the Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome movie.

Tina played Aunty Entity, the ruler of a desert outpost called Bartertown, in the 1985 film. The film delivered her the hit song, We Don’t Need Another Hero, which ran over the end credits.

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Miller shared his admiration for Tina and said “she was a tremendously powerful presence.”

“It was one of the great privileges of my life to be working with her – not only as an actor but as a human being. She was incredibly wise, probably one of the wisest people I’ve ever met,” he said.

The filmmaker also vividly remembered how she always stood out “like some great queen” amongst other rock stars such as Mick Jagger.

“I remember being in a house one time and she had to take a call from one of the Jackson brothers,” Miller told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“She was a mentor to the Jacksons – and Michael Jackson – during that time. I realised that happened to everybody, including the likes of the Rolling Stones. She was adored like a queen by all of them.”
