Greece celebrates Europe Day 2023

Greece celebrated Europe Day 2023 with and event at the Athens Conservatory on Tuesday May 9.

According to AMNA News, Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke at the event and said the country’s accession to the European community 42 years ago was “its greatest decision in post-junta history.”

Greece was accepted by the European communities on May 28, 1980, through the efforts of Constantine Karamanlis, former prime minister and president of Greece and founder of the New Democracy party.

‘Europe Day’ is a day marked to celebrate the spirit of peace and unity at the core of the European Union (EU).

This year’s theme for Europe Day is building a Europe that is green, digital and competitive, fair and skilled, as well as strong, resilient, and safe.
