Greek industrial group acquires stake in Australian hydrogen project

·

A Greek industrial conglomerate, Mytilineos SA, has acquired a 15 percent stake in an Australian project that aims to produce green hydrogen with solar energy and use it in transportation.

The project, 560-MW Rosedale, is owned by Australian green hydrogen developer, Clara Energy.

Mytilineos SA will support stage 1 of the Rosedale project to construct a hydrogen generation facility in New South Wales.

The facility will be powered by solar production that will fuel long-haul trucks and vehicles that travel on the Hume Highway, a busy motorway between Sydney and Melbourne.

“We are now offering green hydrogen services to large-scale facilities along motorways, so that decarbonsisation can proceed smoothly in international transport,” Chief Executive Director of Mytilineos, Ioannis Kalafatas, said.

“Mytilineos’ presence in many countries facilitates access to a very large pool of associates that are constantly at the forefront… We hope that this project in Australia will not be the only one and that we will soon have new projects.”
