Sydney Olympic and APIA Leichhardt to play legends match at Festival of Football

Memories of a derby from the past will be awakened on Sunday, April 23 at Lambert Park in Leichhardt, Sydney with a special legends match between Sydney Olympic FC and APIA Leichhardt FC.

The football festival, which is running for the third consecutive season, will feature a day of football, as well as 20 Greek and Italian stalls alongside traditional music, singers and dances.

The Under 20’s will play at 9am, followed by reserve women at 11am. Then at 1pm the celebrity ‘legends’ match between past players of Sydney Olympic and APIA will kick off.

The legends on Sydney Olympic’s team include Peter Katholos as Head Coach, Tass Evgeniou as Team Manager, Spiro Hantzis, Manny Spanoudakis, Zlratko Nastevski, Steve Karavatakis, Kerry Agiasotis, George Sorras, Jim Nikas, Kenny Wilson, Terry Patalis, Ari Traiantafilou, George Pantazis, Robbie Hooker, Norman Tome, Marshall Soper, Eric Hristodoulou, Paul Henderson, and Pablo Cardozo just to name a few.

In the afternoon, women first-grade will play at 3.30pm and men’s first grade at 6pm.

The all-day event will see Sydney Olympic and APIA Leichhardt compete for the right to call themselves the ‘Best in the Inner-West.’
