Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited on Tuesday the Special Forces Command of the Hellenic Navy in Skaramangas and the Special Forces Training Centre in Megalo Pefko, both in Attica.

During the visit, Mitsotakis emphasised the critical role of the Armed Forces in protecting national independence and sovereignty.

“Strong Armed Forces protect our national independence, protect our sovereign rights and our national sovereignty and are an essential prerequisite for freedom and prosperity,” Mitsotakis said.

The Greek Prime Minister stressed that both the government and himself always support the work of the Armed Forces.

“Not only in terms of equipment… We also support the personnel of the Armed Forces. It is our obligation to do so,” he said.

Mitsotakis was joined on his visit by Greece’s Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Deputy Defence Minister Nikos Hardalias, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Konstantinos Floros, the chief of the Hellenic Navy, Vice Admiral Ioannis Drymousis, the Commanding Officer of the Hellenic Navy Special Operations Command Constantinos Nassopoulos, and National Security Advisor Thanos Dokos.
