Helen Marcou to be inducted into Music Victoria Awards Hall of Fame

·

The co-owners of Bakehouse Studios in Victoria, Helen Marcou and Ian ‘Quincy’ Mclean, are being inducted into the Music Victoria Awards Hall of Fame for their dedication to Australia’s music industry.

In an interview with Music Victoria, Marcou and Mclean said it was an honour to be recognised.

“This induction writes our name next to giants from our community and although it’s an overwhelming honour, this recognition helps keep our flame burning,” the pair said.

The Greek Australian, who was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women in 2017, founded Bakehouse Studios with Mclean in 1991.

Together, they created this music studio for one purpose – to advocate for Australian music culture and support new generations of musicians and female artists.

Marcou and Mclean said Bakehouse Studios has since become a “home and connection” for generations of music artists across Australia.

The pair will now be inducted into the Hall of Fame by Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin on Tuesday, December 13.
