Lerian Association of Sydney celebrate their 50th anniversary

The Lerian Association of Sydney and NSW celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Panarcadian Ashbury Bowling Club in Sydney on Saturday, November 26.

President of the Lerian Association, Stavros Karantanis, opened the evening with a one minute silence for those Lerians who have passed away.

This was the Lerian Association’s first major event since February 2020, and it was greatly supported by young families, as well as members of the Kalymnian, Halkidiki and Antissian Associations.

Tony Giannisis was Master of Ceremony for the evening and had everyone entertained all night. The catering was arranged by Kouzina Catering. The band Iho Nyx also had the crowd on their feet all night.

On the night, the President thanked all the past Committee members, members, friends, sponsors and supporters of the Association for the past 50 years of hard work.

Mr Karantanis also thanked the current committee who volunteer their time to keep the Lerian Association alive and well.

The Mayor of Leros, Michalis Kollias, also sent his congratulations to the Committee and his love to all Lerians abroad.

A donation to the Ladies Auxiliary of St Gerasimos Church Leichardt was made on the night.

The success of the evening was supported by the generosity of corporate sponsors: ABC Tyrepower and Mechanical; Rockdale Dentists; Mr Roses; Liberty Finance – Caringbah and Penta Properties International.

The Lerian Association have their premises at Edwin Street in Croydon and also hold smaller events such as the State of Origin Nights, Christmas lunches, meetings and their famous Taverna and BBQ days.
