Greek school students at Aetolian College in Victoria get into the Christmas spirit

·

Greek school students from the Coburg campus of Aetolian College in Victoria got into the Christmas spirit on Monday, November 28 with a special celebration.

The College, which is an activity of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, held the Christmas celebrations on the grounds of the Presentation of our Lord church.

The event began with a prayer and small greeting by parish priest Father Efstathios Papadopoulos, where he reminded parents to encourage their children to learn the Greek language and traditions.

Reverend Fr. Efstathios Papadopoulos gave the opening prayer and gave a warm greeting which reminded parents to continue to encourage their children to learn the Greek language and tradition so that the Greek culture remains alive in the coming generations.

Kindergarten students then started singing children’s songs they had learned during the school year. This was followed by primary school students singing various Christmas songs.

High school students then took to the stage to give a special presentation about Greece, the Greek culture and Greek values that have become universal.

Students also performed a number of Greek dances from different parts of Greece as taught to them by their dance teacher, Yiannis Fountoulakis.

The celebration concluded with a special photo tribute showcasing the life of the students during the 2022 school year.

Natasha Spanos, representing the Aetolian College Committee, was impressed by the students’ presentations and congratulated unit coordinator, Sofia Groumpou-Kalathas, and staff for their organisation of the event.
