Greek youth raise funds for new ‘Five Loaves’ initiative in Melbourne

·

Go Youth Melbourne has raised funds for the newly-established ‘Five Loaves’ initiative at a trivia night on Saturday, July 2.

The trivia night was held at the hall of St Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church in Malvern East and was attended by over 100 youth from across Melbourne.

On the night, there were nine trivia rounds with questions focused on faith, culture, geography, humanities and maths.

As the trivia was being played, teams were treated to delicious food such as grazing boards, pizza, salads, baklava and red velvet cupcakes.

The teams also had the chance to win prizes on the night, with the winning team ‘Cretan Intelligence’ receiving movie tickets.

“Thank you to the committee [of Go Youth Melbourne] for putting the trivia night together. It was so much fun. There were so many activities and food,” one participant said after the event.

Funds raised from the sale of raffles and event tickets will go towards the ‘Five Loaves’ initiative, which was recently launched by His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis to provide support to vulnerable residents of Melbourne through food and a conversation.
