Emotional farewell held for the CEO of Sydney Olympic FC, John Boulos

The CEO of Sydney Olympic FC, John Boulos, was given a formal farewell on Saturday, April 7 at Belmore Sports Ground at the end of the Sydney Olympic Women’s team match.

Mr Boulos announced early last week that he has decided to move on from the Club after nearly six years and take up a position at AFL NSW/ACT.

The atmosphere at the farewell event was emotional as Mr Boulos was surrounded by fans and members of the Club’s board who wanted to wish him well on his next career journey.

The President of Sydney Olympic, Damon Hanlin, took to the stage and gave a speech thanking Mr Boulos for all his hard work and dedication over the past six years.

“Since joining Sydney Olympic in 2016, John has worked tirelessly for the club, supporting our football program to be as good as possible and to ensure that our players, families and supporters have always been and continue to be taken care of,” Mr Hanlin said.

“John has been a great support for us and we have shared many happy memories together supporting Sydney Olympic on and off the pitch. He will be missed but he will also remain a friend to many in our Club.”

Mr Boulos himself then approached the podium and stressed how much he has enjoyed working at the Club.

“I would like to thank you all for your help, generosity and support,” Mr Boulos said. “I would especially like to thank Damon, Director and now President, for his continued support of the Club and myself.”

The outgoing CEO said he will continue to support the Club and he is excited for the next stage of the Club’s development.

“Sydney Olympic is a proud Club, with strong foundations and a very exciting future. I wish the Club nothing but the best and will always be a supporter,” he concluded.
