Burwood Council backs Saint Nectarios’ Cottage Kitchen with $5,000 funding boost

·

The Cottage Kitchen, operated by the Greek Orthodox Parish of Saint Nectarios in Burwood, has received a $5,000 grant from Burwood Council under its 2025/26 Community Grant Program.

Representatives from the parish accepted the funding at the council’s community grants presentation, with organisers saying the successful application reflected the value of the service provided to vulnerable members of the local community.

In a statement, Saint Nectarios Burwood said the grant would support “the important work of The Cottage Kitchen” and described the funding as confirmation of “the importance and impact of the work that we do in the local community, supporting the less fortunate and those in need.”

The parish thanked the Mayor of Burwood and Burwood Council for their support, as well as Christina Scalone and Stella Antoniou Apergis for representing the community at the presentation and for their ongoing work with The Cottage Kitchen and the Philoptochos.

The organisation was one of several local groups selected to share in a total of $80,000 distributed through the council’s grants program.
