A year-long police investigation has dismantled an alleged drug trafficking network in Adelaide, with three men, including Adonis Walter Georgiou, 20, of Glenelg North, facing court over multiple cocaine supply charges following the seizure of nearly 2kg of the drug.
Detectives from SAPOL’s Crime Gangs Task Force arrested four men during a two-day operation last week, following a 12-month probe into alleged organised criminal activity across South Australia.
Police allege the group trafficked commercial quantities of illicit drugs, with 1.8kg of cocaine, more than $30,000 in cash, cryptocurrency, a firearm, illegal tobacco and vapes seized, along with five vehicles including a Mercedes-Benz worth about $110,000.
A charge sheet alleges Georgiou and co-accused Luke Silvio Marrollo, 20, trafficked cocaine on multiple occasions between October and May, including an alleged commercial quantity deal at Adelaide Airport on May 7.
Georgiou is also charged with money laundering involving $4500 on the same day at Glenelg North. His bail application was adjourned until later this month.
Other co-accused include Ahmed Nouri Jasem Alwan, 30, of Brighton, who appeared in court on Monday and was granted supervised bail, and a 26-year-old Reynella man, who will face court in June.
Magistrate Sally Giles granted Alwan bail to live with his mother and sister and ordered he have no contact with co-accused.
Detective Superintendent Campbell Hill said the arrests reflected SAPOL’s ongoing focus on organised crime.
“People who engage in the trafficking of illicit drugs cause direct harm to individuals, families, communities and businesses,” he said.
“South Australia Police remain committed to identifying and disrupting the activities of those who seek to profit while knowingly causing harm in our community.”
