Funding boost for The Cottage Kitchen’s community meal program

·

The Cottage Kitchen run by the St Nectarios Parish and Community in Burwood, Sydney has received a welcome boost, with a $3,171 grant awarded this month by Burwood Council as part of its 2025 Community Grants Program.

Christina Scalone and Father George Liangas attended the official presentation to accept the grant on behalf of The Cottage Kitchen, which serves 150 hot meals every Monday to people in need.

Grants totalling $60,000 were distributed to a range of local community initiatives, with The Cottage Kitchen among the successful recipients. The funding will go towards supporting the ongoing preparation and delivery of meals to vulnerable individuals and families in the area.

“We are grateful that our Board’s application was successful,” the St Nectarios Parish and Community said on Facebook.

“Thank you sincerely to Burwood Council and Cr John Faker, Mayor of Burwood — your support and acknowledgement are truly appreciated.”
