Nick Kyrgios ‘pretty down’ after injury forces French Open withdrawal

·

Australian tennis player Jordan Thompson has shared that Nick Kyrgios is feeling “pretty down” after a knee injury forced him to withdraw from the French Open.

Kyrgios had planned a surprise doubles appearance at Roland Garros alongside Thompson, marking just his fourth tournament of 2025.

“Nick was really pumped to play here,” Thompson said.

“He kept messaging me every week, ‘you good to go for doubs at Roland Garros?’” However, the comeback attempt was derailed after Kyrgios injured his knee while training in Australia.

“He told me he doesn’t know how much more of these injuries he can take,” Thompson added.

“As much as he says things in the media, I think he loves playing tennis and being on court, so it’s disappointing he can’t be here.”

Kyrgios, who has played only four singles matches this year due to ongoing injury struggles, remains uncertain for Wimbledon. Thompson will now team up with Jason Kubler for the French Open doubles.
